What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Analyst position at Peraton?
Peraton is seeking a skilled Network Analyst to join our growing team! The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating implementation of switch cuts, forecasts, and special projects within the network.
What you’ll do:
- Consults with users and evaluates requirements, recommends designs, provides cost analyses, plans projects, and coordinates tasks for installation of networks.
- Develops network performance criteria and measurement methods.
- Performs technical analysis of software, hardware, and network systems, front-end processors systems engineering, multiplexors, LAN/WAN communications, network nodes, switches, and various transmission systems.
- Develops alternative routing scenarios and changes in required sequence of network activities.
- Automates statistical research and reports. Prepares, tests, implements and operates computer programs for modeling and simulation tolls.
- Performs future worth economic selection studies on network upgrades and components to determine feasibility, cost, time required, and compatibility with current system.

This environment includes problem report management and resolution tracking of issues on the enterprise and working with service providers and support personnel for outage resolution.
This position may require periodic on-call duty scheduling.
Candidate will also be required to periodically travel (up to 25% with additional travel incentives) to support the dynamic requirements in the military’s theater of operations for short periods (2-3 weeks).
The candidate must meet and continually maintain Department of Defense travel/deployment requirements consisting of comprehensive medical (physical, mental, dental, etc.) examinations and required immunizations as a condition of employment.
Basic Qualifications:
- BS degree and 2-4 years experience or MS degree and 0-2 years experience or high school diploma and minimum 7 years experience.
- Must have at least 2 years of hands-on experience with network devices such as Cisco routers, switches and firewalls.
Must have knowledge of IP dynamic routing (specifically EIGRP), static routing, route redistribution principles and configuration in an enterprise environment. - Must have a familiarity with Microsoft Office suite to include Visio/Excel/ PowerPoint/Project to prepare and modify engineering documents and drawings.
- Must have current CompTIA Security certification.
- U.S. Citizenship required; must possess a current/active Secret security clearance (or active within the past 2 years).
- Must be able to pass a medical physical to include general health, mental health, dental health and obtain the required immunizations.
- Must be able and willing to travel overseas as requested.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CCNA certification.
- Experience with the following network technologies: IPsec over GRE, SNMP, SSH, TACACS , AAA, port-security.
- Experience with Packet Capture Tools (Sniffers), such as Wireshark.
- Experience implementing DISA STIGs.
- Cisco TAC resolution experience.
- Experience with Windows System Administration.
