Responsibilities
Peraton is seeking a Network Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This is a remote position. The qualified applicant will become part of Peraton’s United States Coast Guard (USCG) Infrastructure Managed Services (IMS) program in the Citizen Security & Public Services Sector and Homeland Security business unit. The USCG IMS program delivers a phased journey to mature the delivery of the USCG’s managed IT services. The program is focused on strengthening IT infrastructure, modernizing enterprise solutions, and improving service delivery to enable successful execution of USCG missions and mission support activities.
Day to Day Work Responsibilities:
- Designs and plans network communications systems.
- Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
- Conducts cost/benefit analysis and provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network design.
- Responsible for monitoring network hardware operations to ensure properly set configuration options.
- Plans implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network.
- Advises network users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations.
- Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
- Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
- May be assigned responsibility for the management of the systems administration function, including associated staff.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
- BS Degree and 8-10 years’ experience or MS degree with 6-8 years’ experience or a high school diploma/equivalent with minimum 12 years’ experience
- U.S. Citizenship required; must have a current, active Secret (or higher) clearance or ability to obtain. Interim clearances are acceptable
- 6 years of professional experience in a large Data Center environment
- Network configuration automation (Scripting with Perl/Python/Bash)
- Network service protocols such as TCPIP/DNS/LDAP/Web Technologies
- Experience with Virtual Private Networks (VPN)
- Professional networking certifications a plus- CCNA/CCNP/CCIE or equivalent
- Public cloud certifications a plus - Advanced Networking, Cloud Network Engineer, or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience interfacing with customer senior leadership
- Familiarity with DOD IT security requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Data Center network design and engineering. Integration with public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) a plus

Target Salary Range
