Peraton is seeking a Systems Engineer. This position will be supporting our team located in Egg Harbor Township, Linwood, NJ. Join our Aeronautical Information Management Modernization (AIMM) program that supports the FAA safety mission and Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) objectives by developing automation and information systems and services to address future air traffic requirements and providing aviation users with digital AI that conforms to international standards. The successful candidate will have experience in: Applying comprehensive system engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test, or evaluate National Airspace System (NAS) requirements and procedures. Reviewing and preparing engineering requirements documents and specifications, and other technical and safety documentation. Performing trade studies to evaluate engineering alternatives. Developing system/safety project plans, justifications, guidelines, and controls. Recommending development and design changes to improve quality of products and/or procedures. Transitioning legacy systems to modernized systems. Systems engineers with appropriate expertise will support all aspects of FAA safety management activities involving measures to mitigate hazards or reduce risks to an acceptable level, verification that mitigation measures are incorporated into product design and implementation, and assessment of residual risk and any other safety related activities. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below. Role and Responsibilities Work directly with customer on the decomposition system requirements for Aeronautical Information Provide support and trouble shoot System Operations Issues This position has remote work flexibility. If working remote, travel to New Jersey may be required (less than 10%) This requisition may be filled at either the Sr Principal or Staff level. Basic Qualification Sr Principal education and experience requirement: Bachelors Degree in computer Science or relevant discipline or field and ten (10) years experience Staff education and experience requirement: Bachelors Degree in computer Science or relevant discipline or field and fifteen (15) years experience Experience developing alternative approaches to design, test and evaluation techniques, evaluating and recommending the optimum solutions, while balancing specific project needs with economic constraints Experience forming architectural designs, functional specifications, interfaces for computer systems, while considering system interrelationships, operating modes, and equipment configurations US Citizenship to qualify for Public Trust Clearance Preferred Qualifications Federal Aviation Administration Experience Previous experience working in a software development Agile environment Knowledge of the following technologies: Java; Oracle (SQL, PL/SQL); Talend Data Manager; MySQL; Web Services (SOAP, Rest, JMS, etc.); Shell scripting; XML; JBoss/JON; Geospatial information systems
