Systems Programmer Technical Specialist

Our MIDS (managed infrastructure data services) program is seeking for a Systems Programmer. MIDS is a managed service model that delivers the best solution to support deployment and installations, warranty and maintenance as well as any required hardware, personnel, processes, technologies, and mix of online and remote support for the IRS’ Enterprise Computing Centers and Service Centers. 

What you will do:

• Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency of business processes.
• Investigates and resolves application functionality related issues and provides first level support and troubleshooting. Coordinates application development for multiple projects.
• Assists network administrator with application installation and testing.
• Troubleshoots technical issues and identifies modifications needed in existing applications to meet changing user requirements.
• Analyzes data contained in the organization's database and identifies data integrity issues with existing and proposed systems and implements solutions.
• Provides assistance and advice to users/clients in the effective use of applications and information technology.
• Provide minor programming for some in-house IT projects.
• Participates on IT project steering committees and involved in the design phase of new IT software development projects. Assists in the creation of the system design and functional specifications for new development projects.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors in Science and 10 to 12 years of experience. Additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of the degrees Experience in GDSP System
• Must have mainframe expertise working with the GDPS system.
• Must be familair with z/OS operating system
• Must be a US CItizen
• Must be able to obtain and maintain the required agency clearance

Desired Qualification:

• Federal govenrment experience a plus
