Medical Editor/Sr. Medical Editor

Peregrine Market Access is opening up an exploratory search for a Medical Editor/Sr. Medical Editor. 

The Medical Editor serves as lead editor on at least one brand and backup on other brands, ensuring that all pieces are grammatically and factually correct and in compliance with American Medical Association (AMA) style, client brand style guidelines, and FDA rules and regulations. The Medical Editor will be part of a small but growing editorial team in an innovative agency whose work is focused on market access audiences. They should be eager to learn about managed markets, marketing communications, and the pharmaceutical industry. 

Responsibilities:

• Copy edit, fact-check, and proofread a variety of promotional and educational materials from draft manuscript through print or digital production
• Must be able to understand scientific and medical data to ensure the accuracy of statements and brand claims. (A background in science or medicine would be an asset, though not required.)
  • May be asked to link and annotate promotional pieces submitted through client content management systems (eg, Veeva Vault)
• Work closely with project managers, copywriters, art directors, and account executives to ensure that materials produced are of the highest quality in terms of accuracy, utility, clarity, readability, and appeal
• Attend status and kick-off meetings for assigned brand(s) as time allows
• Collaborate with other editors and potentially mentor a junior editor
• Create and maintain brand style guides

Qualifications:

• 1 to 2 years copy editing in a pharmaceutical advertising agency, in-house agency, or medical publishing company is preferred
• Background or interest in science or medicine a plus
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills is essential
• Working knowledge of AMA Manual of Style
• Proficient in English grammar and usage
• Familiarity with digital media (navigating web/device interfaces)
• Familiarity with digital routing systems
• Bachelor’s degree
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat
