The Opportunity:
Perkins Eastman has an exciting opportunity working hybrid 3 day per week and 2 days remote in our New York Office. The ideal candidate for this role must be highly organized, personable, and well versed in all Employee Relations. This role will act as the primary consultant for a talent population of 400 people in the headquarter office. Also possessing a positive and flexible attitude, with a professional demeanor will be key to success in this role. You will report directly to the Director of Human Resources, with a dotted line to the business leadership of the New York office. You will be working with a strong team of HR professionals who value communication and collaboration for effective talent experiences across the firm.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Relationship with Business Leads:
- Conduct weekly meetings to check in with each business unit
- Consult regularly with management and provide guidance when appropriate
- Mediate and resolve employee relations issues; conduct thorough and objective investigations when necessary
- Coach and develop local management teams on all people related matters, providing strategic direction and insight in order to achieve optimum people performance.
- Develop and nurture partnerships through human resources to bridge the divide between management and employees
- Analyze data trends and metrics to inform business decisions
- Ensure regulatory compliance with legal requirements pertinent to the day-to-day management of employees; collaborate with the legal department when necessary
- Interpret human resources policy to company management
- Maintain awareness of the culture, plans, financial position, and competition of the business units under the HR purview
- Act as champion for HR programs and innovation across the business/ corporate/regional group as a contributory factor to the achievement of overall strategic aims.
- Find ways to build morale, improve workplace relationships, and boost productivity and retention
- HR Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with colleagues in the human resources department to develop policies, programs, and solutions
- Assess and anticipate human resources-related needs
- Write contracts for promotions, transfers, and new hires in collaboration with department management
- Training and Development
- Identify training needs and create or procure professional development curriculum
- Monitor training programs to ensure that training objectives are met
- Provide input on workforce and succession planning as well as plans business unit restructuring
Key Skills:
- Current, in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to human resources and employee management, including workers compensation, and federal and state employment laws
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills including the ability to express ideas concisely and clearly to all levels within the company.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, and coordinate and/or supervise diverse administrative functions.
- Strong follow-through and prioritization skills, the ability to function in an evolving environment while demonstrating initiative, self-motivation and the ability to maintain a strong sense of urgency are essential.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years experience in overseeing comprehensive administrative office functions and demonstrated experience in executing office standards
- Bachelors degree in business, communications, or related field
- Previous experience in human resources, professional development and training, or employee relations a plus
