What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President of Finance position at Perry Weather?
We are looking for a talented and driven VP of Finance. This is our first in-house finance position, necessitated by our rapid growth, with potential for significant career advancement and increased responsibility in a recently venture-backed company environment.
The core of this role is about building out and leading our finance function to help continue to scale our business. We are looking for someone to lead and oversee all things finance and accounting, enabling our team to focus on growth, operations, and strategy. The position requires someone with a strong executive presence who can help drive strategic initiatives and play a key role in board meetings, while also capable of diving into the smallest details to help solve daily business problems.
This role will be very hands-on for the first 12-18 months, with the ability to build out a broader team over time as the needs of the business grow.
What You'll Do
Own the financial model and drive the annual budgeting and planning process. Collaborate across all teams and create alignment on resource and investment allocation with clear plans to achieve revenue and profitability goals.
Drive scenario modeling for various revenue and operational initiatives.
Manage cash flow forecasting, considering numerous variables such as multiple revenue models, physical hardware and inventory, seasonality, and more.
Develop and continually work to improve and automate high-quality monthly financial and KPI reporting dashboards and packages.
Drive a timely month-end close process, ensuring accurate GAAP financial statements.
Oversee accounting processes, including bookkeeping, billings, receivables, and payables.
Identify and build appropriate internal controls, and continually refine these controls as the business scales.
Clearly articulate ongoing company results both internally to the leadership team and to the board / investors, which requires an understanding of the details without being bogged down by them.
Help drive future capital markets activities, including any debt financings, equity financings, or acquisition or strategic partnership activities.
Manage and ensure compliance for sales taxes and business registrations across the US.
Work with external accountants to ensure timely and accurate federal and state tax return preparation.
Work collaboratively to identify the right scalable "finance tech stack" for the business. Analyze, recommend, and implement new systems and processes to improve the efficiency, visibility, and overall quality of accounting records and ultimately financial reporting.
Constantly assess the broader organization to find ways to improve efficiency, productivity, profitability, and ultimately customer experience and retention.
Requirements
What you'll need to be successful:
7 years of experience, preferably with a strong background in FP&A
Solid understanding of US GAAP and its application
Self-starter who operates independently while being collaborative with the broader team
Attention to detail with pride in ownership of work
