What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tax Analyst position at Peterson Cat?
Peterson Cat has an immediate need for a Property Tax Analyst. This position will be onsite at our San Leandro corporate office. The Tax Analyst is responsible for the maintenance of tax records and assisting with the preparation of tax returns, tax-related schedules and reports. The focus of the Tax Analyst includes property tax and other local measures. The Analyst prepares paperwork for local, state and federal level returns for submission within specified deadlines. The Tax Analyst supports all aspects of treasury operation activities related to taxes, including accrual, filing, payment, reporting and auditing. Job functions include the following:
- Lead all day-to-day tax tasks.
- Gather information and complete monthly, quarterly and annual tax payments, as well as process, review, audit and track returns.
- Work to ensure all tax payments are made timely and accurately.
- Work with internal and external parties (i.e. auditors, advisors and tax authorities) to ensure tax compliance.
- Prepare journals for accruals, deferrals and other tax related records.
- Reconcile accruals and books against estimates, statements, payments and tax returns.
- Work with auditors, advisors and tax authorities to prepare tax returns, extensions and other tasks related to tax filings.
- Prepare data for audits and work with auditors to ensure compliance with all tax requirements.
- Produce treasury reports and transaction reports, maintain complete, supported, and accurate records and work papers for all projects completed to support the tax filings and tax positions.
- Monitor and update tax-related records and information.
- Assist with daily cash tasks, conduct research and ad hoc tasks as needed.
A candidate for the opening needs an Associate’s degree from a fully accredited college in Accounting, Business, Business Administration or other closely related field; and a minimum of three years of directly related experience, with a minimum of one year working with taxes; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
