Position Description:
The Payroll Team Lead position is responsible for accurately and timely preparation of payroll. Reviewing and auditing payroll for accuracy. They will have experience with multi-state, large volume payroll processing with extensive knowledge regarding reviewing, auditing, and analyzing payroll data, labor reports, tip reports, and Employee Imports. Responsible for payroll compliance and maintains up-to-date knowledge and understanding of laws, regulations, contracts, policies, procedures, and controls governing payroll operations. Communicates and interacts well in a team environment and communicates well with Operations, co-workers, outside vendors and agencies, and provides considerable value and support to the Payroll Specialists and operators in their area. This position reports to the Payroll Manager and must be able to balance their workday to meet deadlines while supporting a team of Payroll Specialists. They are a resource, “go to person”, trainer and provide coverage for the Payroll Specialist position when needed. They will play a key role in Payroll Processing duties and ensure the Payroll Specialist Group stays aligned with required timelines and accuracy goals. He / she works independently with little supervision, and will cross train between all payroll tasks, responsibilities, and processes.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
- Review and audit multi-state payroll for locations each week.
- Process multi-state payroll for multiple locations each week as needed.
- Works with Operations and Corporate on payroll for Special Events
- Lead team member on Restaurant openings and closings
- Processes bank and direct deposit rejections.
- Sets up labor allocations in Workday as requested.
- Acts as a back-up to the Sr. Payroll and Tax Specialist and keeps up to date on opening and closing payrolls, processing imports, and sending files.
- Ensures payroll labor reporting and approvals are in line and compliant
- Process stop payments, check reversals, and manual checks.
- Monthly accounting reconciliation of cash paid out to employee’s at the store to ensure YTD earnings are correct
- Ability to process garnishments, new store openings, creates and monitors payroll cases in CRM Case Tracking application.
- Review and audit tax filings and returns processed through Ceridian
- Respond to internal accounting inquiries regarding store labor
- Respond to employees inquiries regarding their payroll.
- Balance workload to take on additional projects as assigned and required.
- Assists the payroll manager with ongoing system and process testing.
- Backup payroll manager in their absence
- Train new payroll specialist staff as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Accounting, Business, or similar degree required or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree
- 5 years multi state payroll and garnishment experience
- Desire and capacity to work as part of a highly creative, energetic, and dynamic team
- Must be flexible, detail oriented, motivated with a strong work ethic
- Must process strong communication skills
- Ability to catch on quickly and cross train in fast paced, deadline driven environment
- Attention to detail with great organization and analytical skills
- Ability to exercise good judgment
- Critical thinking ability to analyze and adapt to multiple issues/tasks

- Working knowledge in Microsoft Office products and payroll software (preferred Workday experience)

Working Conditions:
- The work setting is currently a hybrid model including some in-office and working from home.
- Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 10 pounds) during the course of the workday

- Paid Time Off Program: Full-time Global Support Center team members receive at least 20 days per calendar year for sick and personal time off, based on years of service. The pools of these days off may vary based on states. R&R days are prorated based on date of hire for all new team members.
- Paid Holidays: All full-time and part-time Global Support Center team members will be compensated at their regular base pay for eleven (11) company chosen holidays to the extent the holiday falls on your regularly scheduled workday. Additionally, team members are granted an additional two (2) floating holidays to use as they wish (subject to supervisor’s approval).
- Lucky Cat Meal Card: We hope you are hungry! All Global Support Center team members are eligible for a Lucky Cat Card that is preloaded with a set dollar amount for each calendar year, and which can be used at any P.F. Chang’s location. Any unused monies are not eligible to be carried over at the end of the year.
- Tuition Reimbursement: All full-time Global Support Center team members that have been with PFCB for six months are eligible for the tuition reimbursement program. Upon department head approval, PFCB will reimburse up to $3,000 annually for tuition expenses, books, and miscellaneous course costs for certain classes and/or courses of study at an accredited college or university.
- Insurance: Medical/Dental/Vision plan options available; eligibility for coverage begins the 1st of the month following date of hire
