Summary
A 3-month Mechanical Engineering Internship provides students or recent graduates with the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in a practical, real-world environment. Interns will work on various engineering projects, gaining hands-on experience and contributing to the development of innovative solutions.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
To perform this internship successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 90% noise and temperature-controlled office environment, 10% shop-floor production areas. Routine lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 50 lbs; safety glasses and hearing protection required on shopfloor.
Tasks require walking, sitting, bending, reaching, mobility, frequent lifting and pushing/pulling. Work requires computer skills (word processing, spreadsheet, and data-entry), attention to detail and accuracy. Communication skills including listening and speaking are required for interaction with other interns, vendors, and customers. Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to balance multiple tasks and any stress associated with the duties and responsibilities of this position are essential requirements in the performance of this internship.
Secondary duties with added requirements may be assigned from time to time.

Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Bachelor's or Master's program in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Able to work in a fast-paced environment, with quickly changing work priorities, and with minimal interaction to complete assignments on time.

- Assist in the design and development of valve components and associated vacuum systems. This includes creating CAD models, performing simulations, and participating in design reviews.
- Produce prototypes to test new ideas and concepts. This may involve using 3D printing, CNC machining, or other fabrication techniques.
- Conduct tests on prototypes and existing products to ensure they meet design specifications and performance standards.
- Analyze test data and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Support engineering projects by contributing to design, analysis, and documentation.
- Work closely with senior engineers to develop quick engineering solutions for complex problems.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software engineers, and manufacturing teams, to ensure the successful integration of mechanical systems.
