Responsibilities
Your knowledge of informatics will help in supporting R&D through development, support and validation of computer systems. You will be required to develop high-quality applications in a regulated GLP (Good laboratory Practice) laboratory setting to support Pfizer’s Research programs and design harmonized processes.
As a Manager, you will work closely with dedicated and skilled professionals in Research Informatics along our clients in the lab and other support organizations to deliver solutions that will enable Vaccine Research to develop life-saving vaccines.

  • Lead projects utilizing knowledge of informatics, statistics, and lab operations to contribute to analytical system design and data science, primarily in SAS, SQL, and R.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams that gather and analyze user requirements, models, and/or specifications; convert those requirements into technical solutions, ie hands-on design, development, and deliver of data science and analytical tools for both short-term and long-term use.
  • Proactively implement improvements related to software design, testing, collaboration, lab workflows, compliance/DI, and documentation practice.
  • Participate in code-review to help ensure applications developed are of highest quality, including in statistical programming areas.
  • Collaborate with external labs to ensure they can securely analyze and/or transfer data associated with assigned projects.
  • Ensure applications developed by the Data Science team are efficient, scalable, maintainable, and correct.
  • Train, develop, and mentor junior/senior level analysts.
  • Maintain highest level of regulatory compliance in all aspects of the job; this includes writing & reviewing departmental SOPs, authoring and reviewing project-related documentation such as requirement specifications, design specifications, risk assessments, test scripts, etc.
  • Maintain strong connections and communications with line SMEs.
  • Review and approve various standard operating procedures (SOPs), as assigned.
  • Author, review and approve technical documents as assigned.
  • Collaborate with other members of the Research Informatics team, business analysists, and internal support departments.
  • Exercising extreme attention to detail
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science and/or Mathematics and 7 years of experience.
  • Experience in Life Sciences or Information Systems with strong analytical calls
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of various programming languages, web development technologies, computer architecture and/oralgorithms.
  • Proven programming skills in multiple languages (SAS and R are desirable)
  • Strong Interpersonal Skills.
  • Relational database concepts and direct experience with designing, developing, and querying relational databases.
  • Good organizational and time management capability; ability to juggle many tasks
  • ability to develop ETL processes and advanced data wrangling skills
  • Experience with regulated documentation and with writing test scripts.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree and relevant pharmaceutical experience.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory information management systems.
  • Experience performing biological assays.
  • Experience with Salesforce
  • Experience using source management tools (e.g. GitHub)
  • Other programming languages: python, Perl, UNIX Shell scripts
  • cloud-based computing and SaaS model
  • Experience with UNIX environment (permissions, mount points, piping, and various UNIX commands)
