The Director of Accounting will be responsible for managing all aspects of

the accounting function of the Finance department.

RESPONSIBILITIES (Specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):

Manage end-to-end finance and accounting operations including Billing, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Payroll, and Revenue Recognition.

Determine the appropriateness and accuracy of transaction recording as related to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Coordinate the monthly financial closing and produce a timely financial reporting package. This includes timely account reconciliations as well as reviewing the monthly balance sheet and income statement for reasonableness.

Produce full year-end financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Coordinate the annual independent audit of the Association's financial statements by outside auditors.

Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

Coordinate the preparation of the quarterly financial report to the bank.

Coordinate the maintenance of financial systems involving the design of financial reports, modification of financial system set-up, and review of workflows for improvement and training of staff.

Assist in the preparation of regular cash flow forecasts.

Provide accounting support for program managers as needed.

Assist in the development of the Finance department budget and managing the associations' cost of the Finance department.

Manage outside relationships with payroll processors, consultants and independent Auditors.

SUPERVISION:

This is a supervisory position responsible for the performance management, hiring and development of employees within the department.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:

Assist in the preparation and oversight of the Department budget and for monitoring results.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Accounting.

Certified Public Accountant required.

Seven years of progressive corporate accounting experience in a computerized financial system environment, including 2 - 3 years in public accounting, as well as a minimum of 3 years in the private sector including month-end closing, and financial reporting.

Four years of team management experience.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Must have knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Must be experienced in performing month-end closing procedures and producing complete financial statements. Must be experienced in Excel and some knowledge of the Google suite of products is preferred though not necessary. Experience in the Workday Financial Management system is preferred though not necessary provided the candidate has experience in other large ERP systems.

Ability to travel up to 20%.
