Supervisor, Draft Services 

This Supervisor manages drafting services for all departments in PGW which include the scheduling of drafting services with users, implementing and maintaining quality assurance procedures to ensure the accuracy of drawings, and coordinating scheduling and design information with engineers regarding presentation content and technique. Oversee record maintenance of all drawings and maps to ensure that information is available upon request and in a timely manner, Support Distribution and drafting operations through the research, development, implementation, training and maintenance of processes and procedures for Engineering, CAD and CAD related systems including Geographical Information Systems, Document Management Systems, AutoCAD, printing/ plotting operations, database applications and file structures assist.

Responsibilities

Define and implement consistent CAD drafting standards to be applied throughout the planning section.

Plan, schedule, and supervise daily drafting services and coordinates the needs of engineers, internal customers, and essential contractors to meet project schedules and budgets. Ascertains project requirements including material bills, layouts, sketches, and calculations.

Supervise the activities of all drafting personnel and vendors, ensuring the preparation of drawings, maps, and charts are in accordance with priorities assigned and within the budget.

Monitor the daily activities of field drafters producing sketches of changes being made to piping systems and furnish drafting services with the sketches to have the maps updated. Directs and reviews the perpetuation of record retention and retrieval systems, and obtains field information and sketches of PGW facilities and street main installations.

Assign and oversee daily activities ensuring the maintenance of productivity levels. Assist in planning and defining performance goals for Drafting, Field Drafting and Plotting. Manage all databases for charts and metrics.

Coordinate pre-project surveys and investigations at plant sites and street locations to ensure accurate and feasible plans relating to new project proposals, modifications, and records maintenance.

Ensure compliance of applicable laws, codes, regulations, and industry standards pertaining to facility design.

Evaluate and provide recommendations for the purchase of drafting and reproduction equipment for budge consideration.

Supervise appropriate components and professionals necessary to perform assigned functions. Conducts labor planning, recruitment, coaching, training, expense controls and other administrative duties. Maintains awareness of drafting technology through memberships in relevant professional organizations and publications.

Oversee processes and procedures for the selection and hiring of candidates for drafting, field drafting and plotting positions in planning.Participate on project committees to develop and implement new work management programs and processes.

Assist in planning, organizing and leading CAD users training programs.

Interact with accounting to ensure all capital, blanket, and advance engineering work orders (AEWO) account numbers are accurate for payroll and budget.

Work with I.S. to ensure hardware platforms meet application requirements and enterprise version deployment and configurations are consistent.

Provide application support to various PGW departments on various drafting software programs.

Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Associate degree in Business Administration or other related field of study.

3 to 5 years of directly related experience working with in the utility industry.

3 to 5 years of computer aided drafting experience in a piping setting.

Must have strong technical knowledge.

Must be detailed oriented.

Must have knowledge of departmental procedures and policies and general knowledge of the labor agreement.

Must have verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communication with all levels of employees.

Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office: Word, Access, Excel, and Project.

Must have organizational management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and usually under short deadlines.

This is a Department of Transportation (DOT)  drug and alcohol tested position.
