The Phoenix Center for Rehab & Pediatrics is a 227 bed skilled nursing facility located in Haskell, NJ caring for both the Pediatric and Geriatric populations. The Director of Nursing will be responsible for maintaining a high quality of care throughout the facility. This role directly supervises, motivates, and encourages all resident care staff. How you will make an impact:
- Responsible for 24-hour management of nursing services in the facility
- Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other clinical providers to coordinate care and services for the residents within the facility
- Ensure that all residents receive care in a manner and in an environment that maintains or enhances their quality of life without abridging the safety and rights of other resident
- Interview, hire, orient, counsel, evaluate, and discipline nursing staff
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations within the nursing department
- Assist in pre-admission screening of all residents
- Notify each resident’s attending physician and family or responsible party of any significant change in a resident’s health condition
- Communicate closely with the Administrator, ADON, Medical Director, department heads, nursing managers, pharmacy, and families
- Develop short and long-range plans for the nursing department
- Serve on multi-disciplinary committees, assist with gathering quality data, complete audits, conduct appropriate research, report back to staff committees and management team
- Provide clinical training and education as needed to nurses
Experience & Qualifications:
- Must have valid New Jersey RN license with at least two years of supervisory experience
- Must have long term care experience
- Must have a strong clinical background
- Proven Leadership & Management skills
- Strong verbal & written communication skills
- Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively and tactfully with residents, personnel, visitors, and outside agencies
- Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices
- Must have an in-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations and protocols.
