MOLD TECHNICIAN - IA

POSITION SUMMARY:

• To operate, process, setup and troubleshoot lining, molding, printing and all auxiliary equipment assigned by rotation schedule or supervisor. To properly perform order, color and material changes and machine start-ups/shut-downs. This is a Safety Sensitive Position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Processes and troubleshoots machines to produce quality parts;
• Performs order changes: enters startup and shutdown into IQMS system;
• Performs color changes; notifies supervisor of color change status
• Verifies raw materials comply with work requirements.
• Samples and visually inspects production, records quality problems and puts product on hold by entering process correction.
• Informs supervisor/lead of substandard production quality.
• Checks material status and calls for more materials if necessary.
• Checks that all machine sensors and guards are operating properly.
• Informs Supervisor /Lead of machine problems and fills out maintenance work requests.
• Cleans machines and work areas of material, caps, oil, etc., clean filters, scheduled sanitation duties;
• Fills and empties color and virgin hoppers;
• Segregates scrap material;
• Relieves other Mold techs during breaks;
• Backup Mold Tech for other shifts; Covers for absences/vacations on other shifts.
• Follows all GMP guidelines;
• Adheres to all safety rules and procedures.
• Completes all necessary documentation for all assigned machines. Follow manufacturing work Order (BOM)
• Any other duties as assigned by Supervision/Management

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Attends Green Area Meetings;
• Responsible for following all Food Safety related policies and procedures;
• Responsible for following all Safety Rules, policies, procedures and work instructions.
• Sorts through and visually inspects rejected cartons;
• Backup: Off Shift Mold Technician

EDUCATION AND TRAINING:

• Minimum High School diploma or equivalent
• Good verbal and written English & Basic Math Skills

EXPERIENCE:

• Prior Molding experience preferred, Mechanical aptitude required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Pushing or Pulling (5-25 lbs. typically 40 – 70% of the day) – broom, scrap boxes/Gaylords; (25-60 lbs. typically 15-40% of the day) – color barrels, liner material.
• Lifting or Carrying (5-25 lbs. typically 0-15% of the day) – scrap material; (25-60 lbs. typically 15-40% of the day) buckets of color
• Simple grasping (15-70%)
• Firm grasping (15-70%)

EQUIPMENT USED:

• Allen wrenches, calipers, scales, manual pallet jack, welding gloves, & face shield.

Other equipment as assigned.
