Job Summary
This individual is responsible for the overall manufacturing strategies, suitable technologies and the associated manufacturing competencies to support platforms and product roadmaps. Responsible for alignment of planning/logistics, warehousing, materials management, purchasing, quality and production employees to Regional Business Unit goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to supervisors of assigned production departments across all shifts
- Lead the implementation of tactical purchasing, planning & logistics and quality targets within the functional production area
- Align functional production operations to achieve established KPI Targets
- Establish measurable targets, along with the Sr. Vice President, Manufacturing and functional production area Lead BU Manufacturing liaison, for delivery, quality, and efficiency performance and lead continuous improvement efforts to achieve goals. Report key indicators monthly.
- Lead daily Shop Floor Management process and drive continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing activities
- Perform annual performance reviews for all direct reports. Identify the training that is required for each individual in order for them to perform their job function and to grow into greater roles (their IDPs). Assure that the individual receives that training. Assure that the same is done for all personnel within the organization.
- Contribute to the annual performance reviews for all Indirect Central Function employees assigned to support the functional production area.
- Maintain the proper personnel and equipment levels to meet the immediate and growth requirements of the department through the use of permanent employees, temporary employees, and outside suppliers. Develop plans to meet that level. Work to place the best individual in each position based on job requirements and the persons skills. Reorganize personnel as needed, with cooperation of the Sr. Vice President, Manufacturing
- Responsible to work with production supervisor to create training plans for personnel and machinery resources to meet production schedules and product deliveries including the setup of overtime and additional shifts.
- Responsible for capital budgets for equipment, their ROI and maintenance of all production and manufacturing related budgets in coordination with the functional production area Lead BU Manufacturing liaison.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Technology with 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience; or 10 years supervisory experience in a Manufacturing environment.
- Strong computer knowledge, and efficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with others, by coaching, leading, and directing others in a production environment.
- Ability to read and comprehend English written assembly prints.
- General knowledge of Lean Manufacturing concepts.
- General knowledge of Manufacturing Requirements Planning and Flow
- Total Quality Management and ISO 9000 understanding
Essential Job Functions:
- Able to lift at least 35 pounds
- Able to use pallet jack with 300 pound load
- Able to stand or sit continually for two hours without break
- Able to drive to local supplier, in own vehicle (with reimbursement), at short notice.
- Able to drive or fly to distant supplier, customer or mandatory training session and stay overnight for periods of up to a week
- Must be able to speak and understand English to communicate verbally and in writing
