Summary
The Paint operator is responsible for applying a layer or layers of primer and paint to welded steel/plastic components to protect it from the elements and/or make it more aesthetically appealing. Prepares surfaces, cleans product, and applies coating
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Convert raw materials to finished product
- Able to meet standardized production times related to product being painted
- Monitor part quality and identify rejects
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Read and Understand Work Orders / Prints
- Keep accurate log of parts moving through the paint booth
- Set up and paint steel assemblies, mask parts where necessary
- Handle paints, solvents and chemicals in department safely
- Maintain paint booth and spray gun daily (set up and tear down)
- Keep Inventory of supplies on hand
- Operate paint gun, spray booth, and ventilation system per instruction
- Properly store material/equipment
- Properly dispose of hazardous materials daily (rags, used solvent)
- Visually adept at spotting defects and blemishes and conform to paint finish specifications.
- Clean, mask, and prepare part surfaces as specified before painting to assure parts are free from contamination
- Inspect parts before and after painting for defects or surface flaws or imperfections
- Paint product with spray guns
- Communicate recommendations to modify processes to improve productivity and quality.
- Deliver painted parts to designated areas.
- Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by complying with organization standards and legal regulations.
- Ensures 100% on-time delivery by meeting established cycle times.
- General use of air and hand tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to use required PPE
- Ability to stand/walk throughout the duration of the shift
- Ability to work overtime based on business needs
- Able to lift up to 50lbs.
Desired Characteristics:
- Medically cleared to wear required or voluntary respiratory protective equipment
- Forklift experience
- Prior painting experience
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
