Production Specialist – Technical Apprenticeship
Location: GE Transportation (Wabtec Co) – Kansas City, MO

The operational goal of this group is to provide components and support for the supply chain and reverse supply chain, up to and including repair services and processes.
Job Description:
The Technician will apprentice under a Senior Technician or Engineering Technician to safely perform teardown requalification and assembly operations for locomotive components utilizing various equipment in accordance with quality procedures. Be provided training on industry desired processes such as welding, metrology, and machining.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to learn how to read blueprints.
- Trainable to safely operate a machining station.
- Fit and assemble machined metal parts/subassemblies.
- Capable of using basic tools to measure work pieces.
- Willingness to learn and be trained to operate machining and welding equipment.
- Verify part quality.
Desired Skills:
- Descent communication skills.
- Be available and capable to work an off-shift schedule to fill coverage gaps in the production schedule.
- Attention to detail.
- Can be trained to solve problems.
- Ability to handle “On the Job Training”.
- Works well independently and with others.
Qualifications/Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Experience working in a shop environment, or a skilled trade a plus, but not required.
