Phoenix Welding is a Portland Maine based company with a 39-year history in the mechanical industry. Phoenix provides fabrication, repair and mechanical installation of process piping, tanks and distribution systems for petroleum and the chemical products industry, as well as high purity piping systems and structural steel work.

Main Functional Activities include:

  • Develop preliminary estimate plan and assess the ability to meet RFP dates.
  • Independently identify the scope of work and perform specificity, quantity, and cost takeoff from RFQ information.
  • Review available plans and specifications to ensure the estimate is compliant with client requirements.
  • Perform conceptual estimates at times when detailed design information is not yet available.
  • Work on multiple estimates concurrently.
  • Solicit pricing from material Vendors and Subcontractors.
  • Participate as a member of a team on larger estimates and contribute to the overall estimate.
  • Ensure that estimates are complete, well organized, and ready for review by management.
  • Ensure that estimates include all costs that may be associated with the execution of the work if awarded.
  • Develop innovative means and methods for the completion of projects to increase our competitiveness and project margins.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and client requirements.
  • Play a key part during the preparation of proposal technical information, and develop the basis of the proposal, when required.
  • Maintain base bid documents and organize estimate information per company protocols.
  • Coordinate with the sales team on successful bids to provide a thorough transition to the operations team.
  • Assist in the development of project budgets and monitoring contract changes on successful proposals.
  • Perform additional duties, as required.

SKILL QUALIFICATIONS

To be successful, you must be able to perform each of the above essential duties satisfactorily and possess the following skills, qualifications, and behaviors:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience in a technical field and/or related experience.
  • Minimum of three years of estimating experience.
  • Requires strong computer skills, and proficiency with estimating software and MS Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel & Project).
  • Conceptual estimating skills.
  • Knowledge of the following construction codes (ASME B31.3, ASME Sec. VIII, API 650/653, API 1104, AWS D1.1/1.5, ABS)

Schedule:

· 8 Hour Shift

· Day Shift

· Monday – Friday (8:00AM – 4:00PM)

· Based at Headquarters Portland, ME
