Overview
The Laboratory Site Lead provides oversight to operations and non-technical support for the Pathology Laboratory. Coordinates workflow, scheduling, turnaround time, and ensure stakeholder satisfaction. Expectations also include accessioning, transcription, light filing, purchasing, assisting with SOP's (yearly maintenance and development of new SOPs as needed) and to ensure that lab quality standards are maintained.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job, an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Prepares, standardizes, and maintains up-to-date procedures.
- Assists with evaluation and monitors evolving technology and regulations.
- Ability to implement and adapt to new technology and or regulations required for Laboratory Clients.
- Supports laboratory staff in daily duties, as needed, to include receiving and accessioning pathology specimens, preparing tissue cassettes for Pathology Assistants, preparing slides special stains.
- Demonstrates proficiency in creating Standard Operating Procedures and useful instructional capabilities for laboratory personnel.
- Ensure laboratory compliance with all professional, state, and federal regulatory agency requirements.
- Demonstrate proficient use of LIS system and computer software programs with high level of precision.
- Communicates with physicians, patients, technologists, clients, and other departments.
- Always demonstrates professionalism
- Offers support and assistance to others as needed to provide training and/or resolve concerns.
- Leads recruitment efforts for hourly positions.
- Monitors staff schedule and approves timesheets.
- Completes Incident Reports and reports all Workers Comp claims to HR.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
SUPERVISORY SKILLS:
Supervise employees, including planning, assigning and scheduling work, reviewing work and ensuring quality standards, training staff and overseeing productivity. May offer recommendations for hiring, termination and pay adjustments, but do not have final responsibility.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required.
Education: Associates Degree, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Laboratory, preferably 1 year in a Lead role
Certifications & Licenses: ASCP Preferred.
Technology Applications: Computer savvy with ability to navigate between multiple systems simultaneously. Ability to use practice management software to utilize electronic medical record keeping.. Knowledge of Microsoft Applications.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Works in well-lit, ventilated and climate-controlled office environment with routine office equipment; some equipment has moving mechanical parts.
Noise level in the work environment is typical for an office and/or medical clinic environment.
Minimum overnight travel (up to 20%) by land and/or air.
