What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Manager position at Pico Propane and Fuels?
The Plant Manager manages the local operations of our Pico Propane and Fuels plant in Carlsbad, NM. Duties include assisting the regional manager with ensuring employees follow all federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to the storage, delivery, and usage of all products that the company supplies.The Plant Manager is instrumental in ensuring the plant operates within the guidelines of the budget and provides other services as requested by management.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Plant Performance:
Provides feedback to senior management regarding plant performance
Maintains adequate systems knowledge and provides support to regional manager
Responsible for inventory management
Responsible for meeting budget revenue guidelines
Evaluates daily, weekly, and monthly plant reporting as required by plant and/or regional manager
Ensures that daily, weekly, monthly functions to be performed at each plant are performed as required
Leads staff in collection efforts and must closely monitor accounts and overall AR activity
Monitor and implement all safety practices as regarded by regulatory agencies and company policies
Responsible for the coordination of fleet maintenance, safety records, DOT files/records with Pico Propane and Fuels fleet management and compliance
Schedules and dispatches all drivers and service technicians
Responsible for accounts receivable for the region and closely monitor accounts
Assists with propane dispensing, fuel deliveries, and service technician work as needed
Coordinates safety initiatives with the director of safety and implements as directed
Personnel Management:
Assists with recruiting and hiring, while responsible for onboarding and training employees based on criteria agreed upon by senior management
Duties will include managing tasks, staff meetings, development programs and operational reports as needed
Develops, managers and schedules training for plant field staff
Coordinates with administration the compliance of office staff with established company policies and standards, such as safekeeping of company funds and property, personnel practices, security, sales and record-keeping procedures
Demonstrates ability to interact and cooperate with all company employees
Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethic codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team
Customer Service:
Resolves customer problems by clarifying customer complaints; determining the cause of the problem; selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem; expediting correction or adjustment; following up to ensure resolution
Responsible for achieving acceptable customer positive reviews on review platform
Ensure region personnel provides timely and professional responses to all customer inquiries

Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints
Ability to handle multiple demands at one time
Proficient in the current Microsoft Office Suite
Education, Certification, Licenses Required:
An associates degree or high school diploma/GED with at least two (2) years of management experience and experience in general trades such as plumbing, mechanics, etc.; or a combination of experience and education that results in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Must have a valid drivers license with a clean driving record
CDL-A with hazmat and tanker endorsements (preferred)
Physical, Mental, Behavioral Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch
Regularly and safely lifts, carries, and handles supplies and equipment weighing at least 20 - 80 pounds
Must pass pre-employment screening and background check
Position may require working evening hours and weekends as needed
Work is normally performed outside where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, fumes and gases and airborne particles is common
