Job Posting for Deli Clerk at Piggly Wiggly

Deli clerks prepare, package, price and merchandise a variety of hot and cold deli foods. They provide customers with quick, accurate, and friendly service and are always willing to provide suggestions about deli products and services to increase sales. Deli Clerks take special orders and questions from customers in person or over the phone, so accuracy and strong communication is a must. The ideal candidate will be efficient and follow all Company policies and procedures, including those regarding Food Safety. They will operate equipment like fryers, slicers, knives, ovens and scales safely and efficiently. There is occasional exposure to both high and low temperatures from ovens, coolers and freezers. Deli clerks must be flexible and comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced environment.


Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school education or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Must be able to frequently lift 35 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Deli experience preferred but will train the right candidate.
  • Food safety certification a plus
