Night Shift Utility Job Description
Summary of Opening:
The individual selected for this position will be cross trained across 3-5 positions to be a floating driver, filling in as needed. Positions include Live Haul, Feed Haul, Chick Delivery, Egg Pickup, and Pullet Movement. Chick Delivery and Pullet Movement include MOFFETT operation.
Live Haul: responsible for hauling, dropping, and hooking live haul trailers to the plant from farms and from the plant to farms. Also responsible for securing loads. 3-8 loads may be hauled per shift, but the average is 4-5. Fan Trailer Movement is the responsibility of the driver. Pay is hourly plus a mileage rate. Live birds will be hauled.
Feed Haul: responsible for using computer to load truck, hauling an average of 4 loads per day, off-loading feed at farms through auger trailer, and cleaning up and spills. Pay is piece rate split between a loading rate, hauling rate, mileage, and dropping rate.
Pullet Movement: responsible for loading cages onto trailers, offloading empty cages into chicken houses, hauling empty and full cage trailers between pullet and breeder farms. Pay is flat hourly rate while working for Pullet Movement.
Chick Delivery: responsible for counting load, loading (manually pushing dollies), hauling chicks to farm, offloading with MOFFETT, and returning empty dollies and baskets to hatchery. 1-3 loads a day. Pay is flat hourly rate while hauling chicks.
Egg Pickup: responsible for loading empty egg buggies onto trailer and securing load. Egg buggies will be dropped on farms and rolled inside egg/work rooms, full buggies will be loaded, secured, and hauled back to hatchery. Pay is flat hourly rate while hauling eggs.
Successful applicants must realize that they are representing Pilgrim's Pride Corporation whenever they are driving a company vehicle, making sure to always follow the rules of the road.
Description of Duties/Qualifications:
- Will complete one of the above jobs daily/weekly.
- Load securement is the driver's responsibility in all positions.
- Must be able to drive large trucks in all types of weather and at night.
- Must be able to push/pull 100 lbs.
- Must have a valid CDL Class A license, a good driving record, a drug-free record and must pass a DOT physical.
- Will use company provided e-log system.
- Will follow all DOT HOS regulations.
- Vision correctable to 20/20.
- Must possess good decision making ability.
- Good work ethic.
- Able to work in hot and dusty environments.
- Normal work days Monday-Friday - work any scheduled holidays. Sometimes we do work Saturdays or Sundays if needed.
- Start times vary depending on shift being filled. Scheduled for 12-hour day. Average work day is 10 hours.
