Whether we are serving guests, a fellow team member, or a trucking company, we are dedicated to fueling people and keeping North America moving.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status or any other characteristic protected under applicable federal, state or local law.Job DescriptionThe purpose of this job is to supervise the operations of the sales and use tax team.Oversee, lead, and set priorities for the sales and use tax teamSelect, coach, train, and develop direct reports, to include appraising job performance and conducting performance reviewsHigh level review and approve state and local sales tax returnsManage state and local sales and use tax audit and noticesReview construction, software, and other high dollar invoices for correct taxabilityProvide internal customer service including systems set-up management, monthly account reconciliations, and responding to tax questionsOversee the balance sheet reconciliation process and support of the annual audits to assess control/process effectiveness and identify areas for improvementModel behaviors that support the company’s common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest levelEnsure all Pilot Company initiatives are in compliance with sales tax rules, regulations, policies, and proceduresComplete other duties as assignedQualificationsBachelor’s degree requiredMinimum five years of multistate sales and use tax experience requiredMinimum one year supervisory experience requiredIntermediate Microsoft Office skills requiredVertex OSeries and Vertex Returns experience a plusCertified Public Accountant (CPA) preferredBasic accounting knowledge requiredAbility to manage and lead a teamAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionExcellent analytical, critical thinking, and organizational skillsStrong attention to detailStrong written and verbal communication skillsTeamwork, problem solving, conflict management, influencing, and negotiating skillsAbility to meet deadlines and perform with a high sense of urgencyAdditional Information#LI-CH1
