Description

SUMMARY:

Responsible for providing diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. Responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography. Responsible for daily operations of the sonographic laboratory, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures, and quality assessment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Performing the ultrasound and ensuring the transducer (probe) is capturing images correctly
2. Explaining the ultrasound procedure to patients in order to avoid confusion
3. Maintaining ultrasound equipment and sterilizing the room in which the procedure takes place
4. Spreading the ultrasound gel on the surface of the patient’s body to cover the internal area being imaged
5. Evaluating the images for their quality, and interpreting what the image captured according to AIUM Standards
6. Presenting images and preliminary findings to physicians and the healthcare team
7. Maintaining patient records and adding medical notes related to the ultrasound procedure
8. Other duties as assigned

Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1. One year of ultrasound tech experience preferred
2. Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with OB/GYN certification
3. Certified in First Trimester Screening
4. Current BLS certification
5. Excellent Organizational skills
6. Hand-eye Coordination
7. Ability to use both arms and hands and maintain prolonged arm positions necessary for scanning
8. Ability to move ultrasound machine and help patients out of wheelchairs and onto exam bed for diagnostic test
