DISTRIBUTION MAINTENANCE OPERATOR

The Pinery Water and Wastewater District is seeking an experienced distribution maintenance operator to assist in the
District’s preventative maintenance programs. The Pinery WWD is a water and wastewater service provider located in eastern Douglas County dedicated to providing “Quality Water for LIFE” to nearly 15,000 customers.

Supervision Received
Works under the oversight of the Lead Distribution Operator and the supervision of the Water Superintendent.

General job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provides excellent customer service and remains conscientious about public health and safety
  • Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled duties involved with the maintenance and repairs of the water distribution system
  • Verbally reports emergencies and major malfunctions to the Lead Distribution Operator and initiates proper actions per procedures
  • Prepares, maintains, and reports on work plans regarding preventative maintenance on District infrastructure
  • Assists with quarterly updates to district maps and our GIS
  • Assists with public relations by representing the District in a professional manner and responding to customer inquiries in a timely fashion.
  • Operates a variety of hand, power, and pneumatic tools
  • Operates or assists in operating large equipment
  • Performs physical cleanup and housekeeping of work areas, job sites and equipment
  • Completes paperwork as needed for work orders, personal time sheets, customer service requests and computer data entry
  • Fulfills ‘on call’ requirements on a rotating basis – 30 minutes or less commute preferred
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required. Some overtime is expected.

Candidate must:

  • Be detail-oriented with the ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be able to manage customer service situations
  • Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness in work results
  • Observe all safety and security procedures for the protection of yourself, your crew, and the public
  • Be familiar with and demonstrate the ability to use a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) like

SEDERU or similar

  • Have a valid Driver’s License in good standing.
  • Within 1 year obtain a Class1 Distribution Certification from the Colorado Water & Wastewater Facility

Operators Certification Board. Within two years obtain a Class 2 Distribution Certification and continue until aClass 4 Distribution Certification is obtained

  • Regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to work independently with broad direction and limited supervision
  • Ability to collaborate efficiently with supervisors and co-workers and deal tactfully with the public

Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00a.m.- 3:00p.m., with paid holidays off.

Must satisfactorily pass a criminal background check and drug test prior to commencement of employment. Compensation dependent upon qualifications; starting pay is targeted between $24.00 to $34.00 per hour. The Pinery WWD offers a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, dental, vision and a generous retirement saving plan where employees are immediately eligible for an 8% employee contribution and an 8% company match.
