Definition
Under general supervision, the employee is responsible for planning, organizing, and presenting instruction and instructional environments which help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Working with administrators, the teacher develops a curriculum plan and lessons consistent with the school's charter and with board directives
- Read “Teaching Johnny to Think” by Leonard Peikoff
- Develops and uses instructional materials suitable for instruction of students in a college preparatory environment

Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and motivate
assigned students - Establishes and maintains standards of student management required to achieve effective participation in all activities
- Evaluates academic and social growth of students
- Keeps appropriate records
- Communicates with parents through a variety of means
- Holds parent conferences to discuss the individual student’s progress and interprets the school program
- Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- Maintains professional competence through in-service professional development provided by the school and/or professional growth activities
- Cooperates in school-wide supervision of students during out-of-classroom activities
- Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities
- Experience with Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
- Experience with numerous forms of instructional technology
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with emergency situations.
