Controller
Pinnacle MEP, is a Private Equity portfolio of companies performing HVAC services in Michigan and Ohio. We are seeking to add a Controller role to add to our growing accounting and finance team. This position will be accountable for the financial and accounting activities of our expanding portfolio businesses. The right candidate will be the process owner of the AP, AR, billing, payroll, financial reporting, operational reporting, and budgeting functions. Additionally, the Controller is responsible for internal control policies and procedures. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to make an impact as we are scaling and growing.
The Controller will join the rest of the team in providing expertise and understanding of the company’s finances to the table to assist in strategic decision making. As a leader, the Controller will encourage innovative ideas that are sound and progressive, including improving and streamlining financial processes and controls, while supporting creativity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee/perform the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, payroll processing and reporting, accounts receivable and aging accounts.
- Perform general ledger account reconciliations and close the month in a timely, accurate, and effective manner.
- Prepare financial statements including balance sheet and income statement, budget variance analysis and various cost accounting reports.
- Oversee the activities of the accounting team and project managers as related to the financial aspects of projects.
- Handle special projects as requested by management.
- Prepare work in progress job schedule and job cost allocation
- Collect, analyze and summarize information and trends to aid management during decision making.
- Drive annual budget preparation.
- Collaborate with our corporate partners on year-end audit and tax document gathering.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Provide Leadership in the accounting and financial functions.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance and understanding of GAAP accounting required.
- At least 5-8 years of accounting experience, CPA or CMA a plus.
- Experience with ERP system is a plus.
- Construction industry or similar substantive Work in Progress accounting experience is a plus.
