Responsibilities
- Preparation of quarterly reforecast incorporating historical results and future assumptions.
- Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes.
- Preparation of work papers supporting the monthly close process and month end balances.
- Review and posts receipts and payments to appropriate ledgers, spreadsheets, records, and databases.
- Audits invoices against purchase orders, researches discrepancies, and approves for payment.
- Provides advance warning of variances to most recent budget / forecast in a no surprises manner.
- Evaluating accounting and internal control systems.
- Directs preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification.
- Provides counsel and advice to peer management in an effort to optimize operational results.
- Coordinates activities of external auditors.
- Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies.
- Acts as close confidant to Plant Manager of operation.
- Hiring, training and retaining competent accounting staff.
Qualifications
- Three (3) years of experience as a Controller, or Five (5) years of experience in a public accounting firm (Big 4 or Middle Market)
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- Five (5) years of experience interpreting financial reports, and legal documents.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience presenting information to various levels of management (ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or executive teams.)
- Five years of experience working with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Eight years of experience applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experience as an audit manager / senior associate at a CPA firm (Big 4 or Middle Market) strongly preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing environment or with manufacturing clients preferred
- Experience with inventory management (year end physical counts or recurring cycle counts) preferred
- CPA preferred
