General Definition of Work
The HR Classified Specialist, under limited supervision, performs intermediate administrative work facilitating the licensure and onboarding process for classified staff. Employee is responsible for facilitating the staffing process by maintaining reports to manage current vacancies and recommendations for employment along with position control/allotments to include position verification and tracking in assigned area(s).

Essential Functions
- Adheres to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
- Maintains records of resignations, retirements, terminations, new allotments, to monitor vacancies
- Determines position availability when receiving hiring or transfer recommendations prior to processing
- Reviews credentials for recommended individuals to determine eligibility for employment based on completeness of credentials and documentation required by application process including transcripts, confidential references, complete background check, drug-screening, etc. for assigned area(s) or schools
- Determine appropriate salary placement and level of benefits for assigned area(s) or schools
- Prepare payroll documentation to ensure classified employees are compensated appropriately; communicates with payroll any salary changes for assigned area(s) or schools
- Performs all aspects of onboarding of employees for assigned area(s) or schools
- Notifies supervisors of HR approval and maintains new hire documents
- Prepare and maintain official personnel files and reports as requested
- Ensures that all Human Resources systems are fair, equitable, and adhere to state, federal, and local laws, and school board policies
- Participates in professional development workshops and leadership training
- Creates an inclusive environment with positive communication/public relations
- Performs related work as assigned or required

Education and Experience
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
- Equivalent combination of experience and education considered
Special Requirements
- Possess and maintain a NC Driver’s License or ability to provide own transportation
- Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
- Work requires the occasional exertion of up to ten pounds of force
- Work regularly requires exchange of accurate and detailed information through oral and written communication
- Constantly operates a computer and other office business equipment
- Ability to remain in stationary position for required meetings/work
- Ability to move to other work locations
- Visual acuity requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities
- Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels, and to receive detailed information through oral communications
