We are seeking a Regulatory Associate to join a clean energy provider who will work closely with the power procurement team.
This person will work with cross-functional staff internally and with outside consultants and regulatory agencies. You will play a key role in the integration of our commercial strategy with policy risk assessments.
The Regulatory Associate will :
- Collaborate with the power procurement, marketing and analytics teams on cross-functional priorities related to regulatory matters, focused on energy reliability and resource planning analysis.
- Evaluate proposed regulatory policies to assess potential impacts; develop company position on issues; provide strategic regulatory advice;
and develop technical analyses, written reports, and presentation materials.
- Create analyses to support company's policy positions in key regulatory proceedings covering integrated resource planning, resource adequacy, and distributed energy resources.
- Participate in stakeholder dialogues, advocacy, and regulatory proceedings and evaluate proposed regulatory and funding policies at regulatory commissions and state and federal agencies, to assess the impact;
- develop company positions on issues; develop technical analyses, written reports, and presentation materials to support those positions;
conduct written and oral advocacy to shape future regulations.
- Represent the organization before various regulatory agencies in rule making and rate making proceedings, including as a witness and / or key technical advisor.
- Draft and review comments, proposals, testimony, and briefs; provide analytic analyses and strategic advice on regulatory matters;
prepare discovery requests and responses; participate as a witness in administrative hearings; provide input into legislative policy at the state and local levels.
- Support internal teams with regulatory advice on energy resource planning and reliability.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications you bring :
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible and relevant work experience, including at least three years in energy, economics, environment, or in a closely related field in a policy, regulatory, strategy, or related business function.
- Policy background in the areas of reliability planning and energy resource planning.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and advocacy skills.
- Strong technical and analytical skills.
- Understanding of energy markets and energy products.
- Experience in representing your organization and partnering with external stakeholders to build consensus.
- Ability to prioritize, be nimble, and self-directed in a highly fluid and rapidly changing environment.
- Effective and organized project manager and leader.
