UNMANNED AERIAL SYSTEM (UAS) DRONE LEAD PILOT – FOR LARGE SWARM Drone Lead Pilot
Location: Remote
THE ROLE:
We’re looking for an experienced lead Pilot that is able to operate drone swarm light shows for Pixis, Inc., a new company formed to produce drone light shows. After undergoing training on our control systems, the lead pilot will be charge of all large-scale executions, as well as maintenance and logbooks upkeep for our equipment, and eventually will act as a trainer for future recruits.
FULL JOB DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as Pilot-in-Command of swarms sUAS (100-500 drones)
- Conduct pre-mission planning with project managers to clarify deliverables.
- In collaboration with the head of drone operations, develop flight plans, check NOTAMS, check weather and coordinate airspace integration with any effected controlling agencies or privately owned properties.
- Perform equipment troubleshooting and regular maintenance
- Solve problems on the ground in real-time.
- Review reported malfunctions and identify / analyze any undesirable trends
- Assist in hiring and training of pilots and support team members
- Maintain flight logs, maintenance and battery logs
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Professional experience with multi-rotor drones, and pre-programmed waypoint missions
- FAA Part 107 license required
- Knowledge of proper operations of sUAS per FAA Part 107 regulations.
- Thorough understanding of all components of RPAS, as well as the ability to troubleshoot technical issues in the field.
- Knowledge of RTK-GPS systems
- Experience with UAS flight software such as PixHawk and UGCS.
- Ability to follow SOPs and keep up to date logs of pilots, equipment, and batteries.
- Ability to work outdoors with limited facilities and resources for extended periods of time in various climates.
- Knowledge of civilian airspace and aeronautical charts.
- Ability to read and understand flight logs.
- Ability to understand drone firmware parameters.
- Ability to maintain, inspect, clean, and occasionally repair UAS equipment.
- Ability to manage small field crew (2-4 people), field schedule, and project expectations.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office.

- Potential travel (50-75%) when needed with the ability to work on weekends/holidays and on short notice holidays.
