General Position Summary
 
The incumbent is responsible for promoting Planes’ lines of business which fall under the Commercial Services umbrella to include installation, design, project management, storage, transportation, and moving.  The primary responsibility of a Vice President (VP) of Business Development is to achieve his/her pre-defined sales quota while working within the sales operational guidelines and adhering to all other job functions and responsibilities outlined here and in the sales agreement.  He/she is expected to build personal and corporate customer relations with all customers based on integrity, work ethic, business practices and superior performance.    
 
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities
 
  • Thoroughly familiar with the Planes Proactive Quality Management program; Measurability, Evaluation, Accountability, Corrective Action – Ongoing Training, and Timely Rewards.
  • Establish regularly scheduled visits and/or contact with corporate clients agreeable to both parties; preferably a minimum of once per month.
  • Sales reps will visit all “one times” when he/she or their supervisor feels it is in Planes or the customers’ best interest to check with crew and customer.
  • Sales Manager/General Manager (GM) will make contact with each corporate account contact a minimum of quarterly to ascertain if their expectations are being met both from an operations and sales account management perspective.
  • Any customer entertainment over $100.00 that is being paid or spilt by the company must be pre-approved by the sales manager/general manager.
  • All expenses must be submitted with the specified time (60 days) otherwise sales rep will be subject to absorb the full cost.
  • Will attend and be actively involved in all agreed upon networking groups.
  • Actively utilize company contact management system consistently; activity will be reviewed quarterly with sales manager.
  • Expected to prospect/self generate additional business on a regularly scheduled basis; must be documented in company contact management system and results reviewed monthly with sales manager.
  • Work with fellow sales reps from HHG and Logistics to ascertain additional business from current commercial customers.    
  • Proactively communicate and provide operations all necessary information for all jobs/projects and be thoroughly familiar with business peaks as they affect potential staffing issues.
  • Responsible for communicating with Sales Manager/GM when he/she feels it is necessary to have a pre-move/project meeting.
  • Will serve as a Project Manager on an as needed basis.
  • Whenever there is not a PM assigned, the Sales Rep. will be responsible for ensuring a pack and label meeting is timely scheduled.
  • Complete all paperwork thoroughly and accurately to meet the needs of operations.  Sales person is accountable for a complete and accurate CSO.
  • All services require a signed PO and/or Move Agreement or signed contract by the customer prior to the start of job.
  • All new accounts must have a completed Planes’ credit application prior to the start of a project.  If the Sales Rep. obtains a credit reference sheet from the account, the Credit Department would still like the Planes Credit Application at least signed.  The coordinator must follow-up with the Credit department to make sure their account has been credit approved.  If denied, the Sales Rep will be notified via e-mail and he/she will work with our Director of Credit & Collections and/or Sales Manager to determine additional steps that need to be taken.
  • Complete all necessary credit approval requirements prior to the start of a project.  This is usually done by the coordinator after all paperwork is turned in by the sales rep.
  •  Must conduct a site survey on all projects outside the scope of corporate work for both origin and destination.
  • Whenever involved in providing OA service, sales rep must perform a site survey.
  • Be available as needed via cell phone when a move is taking place during the evening or weekend.
  • Any additional work above and beyond the original scope; must be pre-approved via a signed addendum by the customer.  If there is a Project Manager (PM) on the assigned job, the sales reps must keep in contact with him/her via telephone to ascertain if there are additional services required.  The PM is responsible for having the addendum signed prior to services being rendered.
  • Participate in monthly supervisor/sales meeting to review previous month’s division results.
  • Meet one-on-one quarterly with Sales Manager/GM to review annual personal sales goal.
  • Keep supervisor informed of occurrences and potential problems effecting the daily operations and management of the division.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to improve job related skills; be responsive to direction and constructive feedback showing flexibility and creativity in completing work assignments.
  • Develop and maintain a positive and productive working relationship with all Planes employees, customers, and contractors – always with our Customer’s best interest as the top priority.
  • Additional job duties to be assigned as the company deems necessary.

Education and/or Experience
 
  • Minimum High School diploma or G.E.D. required. College degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years experience in sales, customer service or related industry required.
 
Job Conditions
 
  • Majority of travel is within local area with some out of town.
  • Valid driver’s license with company agreed upon auto insurance requirements. 
  • Required to stand on your feet for extended periods of time.
  • Maintain and utilize cell phone and digital camera.
  • Some weekend and evening appointments.
