FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


Job Summary

Welcomes guests to the Adventure Center/Outfitters and provides fast and courteous service to ensure an enjoyable experience and repeat business. The Cashier is responsible for greeting members and guests, answering telephones, processing sales transactions and receiving, tagging and controlling inventory, and maintaining presentation and cleanliness.

Job Responsibilities

  • Greets guests in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Assists Manager or Supervisor with opening tasks.
  • Processes reservations; answer phone and process boat rental orders; practices suggestive selling techniques.
  • Receives customer payment and processes transactions on cash register as outlined in the cash and charge procedures; gives correct change; balances cash drawer at close of shift; completes all opening/closing paperwork; documents voids on void balance sheet.
  • Responsible for Inventory Control.
  • Responds quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner. Follows up to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
  • Inform boaters about services and events, tying up boats, fueling boats, pumping water from boats, monitoring parking, and operating a radio.
  • Comply at all times with resort standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
  • Responsible for re-stocking and maintenance of store inventory. Keep displays neat and organized.
  • Direct Dockhands and services.
  • Sweep/mop floors as necessary, keep countertops, window areas and display areas wiped clean and clear of debris, ensure presentable and customer-friendly store atmosphere.
  • Provides information within scope of knowledge and position.
  • Operates a motor vehicle to assist in carrying out the business of the department and the Resort.
  • Promotes and encourages participation in the amenities available.
  • Greet and welcome all guests and members.
  • Process transactions for all purchases.
  • Be knowledgeable about and provides basic product information for guests and members.
  • Assist the sales effort by providing information and communicating potential guest/member needs to food and beverage manager.
  • Other duties may be assigned as business demands.
  • Handle all administrative functions including maintaining inventories, answering telephones, and processing of special orders, shipping requests and gift certificates.
  • Receive, tag and place new merchandise on floor.
  • Ensure shop is prepared for proper opening and closing each day.
  • Assist in setting up and maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of displays.
  • Assist with quarterly inventory as needed.
  • Assist in preparing amenity gifts as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Position requires flexibility in scheduling to work AM/PM, weekends & holidays. Overtime may be required per business needs.
  • Candidates in this role will be able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Exceptional customer service skills are required.
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction.
  • Must possess good communication skills, oral and written
  • Strong organizational and guest services skills are required
  • Must have at least one year experience in a retail or related field
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.
  • Must be proficient with computers and POS systems.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit, walk, and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to complete repetitive motions such as, bending, carrying, lifting, squatting, etc.
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 pounds and be physically able to lift, reach, bend and stoop
