What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laser Operator position at Plasan?
- Responsible to load and unload sheet material and cut parts, nesting parts, operating controls, setting offsets, deburring and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements of customer blueprints, ensuring all parts meet tight manufacturing requirements
- Change settings on machine based on material and layout design; sometimes operating multiple pieces of equipment at one time
- Partner with engineering on trials and prototypes
- Responsible for keeping steel organized and in proper locations.
- Responsible to maintain consumables in department such as gas, tips, nozzles, etc.
- Primary contact for daily production schedule
- Training, operational and safety responsibility of both 10- and 20-ton cranes; responsible for crane and rigging checklists
- Use measuring tools (calipers) for quality assurance
- Communicate and escalate daily concern or needs to appropriate team member
- Listens actively and take direction from Supervisor or Team Lead regarding daily work priorities
- Follows Safety policies and procedures
- Follows ERP responsibilities as it relates to jobs
- Follows work instructions of their assigned department
- Meets or exceeds productivity goals for assigned area
- Supports the quality system including the quality manual, quality policy and applicable procedures and work instructions
- Utilize downtime properly
- Leaves work area when appropriate, does not abuse bathroom breaks and does not wander
- Maintains and displays strong attendance habits by being present and on time
- Follow the Non-Conformance process
- Maintains 5 S work environment – cleanliness and organization
- Other tasks as assigned by Supervisor or Team Lead
SKILL SET
- High School Diploma or GED
- Similar manufacturing experience preferred
- Previous experience creating cut files and working with laser nesting software is desired.
- Blue print reading and GD&T preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The duties of this job require the employee to perform mostly standing work with occasional movement throughout the facility to transfer or deliver parts. Occasional use of powered industrial trucks. Regularly lift and/or push up to 30 pounds, frequently lift and/or push up to 50 pounds. Frequent bending, squatting, and stooping. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing this job, the employee is commonly exposed to noise, heat, and dust. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes and toxic or caustic chemicals. PPE is required in this area.
1st Shift- 5 am - 3pm Monday-Thursday
2nd Shift - 3 pm - 1 am Monday-Thursday
