STORE MANAGER

Plato's Closet in Cary, North Carolina has an IMMEDIATE opening for the position of Store Manager. We will train the selected candidate for the first 60 to 90 days in how to successfully manage the store. The store owners live in the local community and are strongly committed to the Store Manager's success!

Plato’s Closet is a chain of over 500 stores in the United States and Canada that buys and sells gently-used clothing for teens and young adults. Our used clothing stores offer a broad selection of current, trendy styles as well as everyday basics, at up to 70% off new retail prices. Plato’s Closet, a member of the Winmark Corporation’s family of companies, is an industry leader in the booming clothing resale and sustainability marketplace.

The Store Manager reports directly to the store owners and is responsible for all store operations, including recruiting, hiring, scheduling, training, loss prevention, customer service, merchandising and social media marketing. Supporting the Plato’s Closet Cary Store Manager are three experienced Shift Managers and a staff of approximately 8 buyers and sales associates.

Applicants with the best chance for success in this challenging retail leadership position should possess the following skills, interests and qualifications:

• Proven past experience as the “manager-in-charge”, preferably in a retail and/or customer service environment. Candidates with experience in resale or consignment will be strongly considered!
• Maturity and confidence to lead a staff of buyers and sales associates who are generally between 17 and 22 years old. If you are a proven, motivated leader, we will teach you Plato's Closet Cary store operations.
• Excellent customer service skills and knowledge. The Store Manager must teach and mentor a young team on the principles and techniques for delivering consistently outstanding customer service.
• An understanding of and interest in current fashion trends in our teen and young adult primary demographic (14 to 24 years old). The Store Manager implements and leads the culture of the store with regard to buying trends, merchandising, personal style, professionalism and positive, upbeat attitude.

Annual base salary is between $50,000 and $60,000 depending on the candidate’s skills and experience. In addition, we offer a monthly performance incentive that could add an additional $5,000 in compensation depending on store performance to corporate goals. We also offer 80 hours each year in Paid Time Off and an incentive each month for all employees to receive free store fashions if performance goals are met.

This is a full-time, 40 hour a week position, and will require some evening and weekend shifts.
