Camp Counselor
Play and Learn PreK, a small, family oriented Preschool Center in Silver Bluff,-Miami, is seeking camp counselors for our preschool summer camp.
Our ideal candidate will be a nature lover, enthusiastic, and passionate counselor who can support young children's play, exploration, inquiry, and creative/critical thinking skills. Candidates should enjoy working in a team-approach, with the belief that children deserve to be with adults that live with integrity, honesty and respect for others.
Under the direction of our Lead Teacher Summer Counselors will help direct the activities of children enrolled in our Summer Camp Program, with children from 12 months to 5 year olds. This position involves significant interaction with children and helping to maintain a safe, high quality summer camp program through fun educational and enrichment activities.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Education and experience in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or in a related field
- Excellent English communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to act as a role model for young children.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective & courteous working relationships with children, their parents, other park staff, community organization partners and the general public.
- 19 years of age and older.
- Special interest in nature study, marine biology, wildlife, botany, and/or art a plus
- Spanish/English Bilingual preferred
- Outdoor work is required (summer months).
- Must pass background check

Camp Counselor Job Responsibilities:
- Plans, leads, and implements camp programs for children.
- Provides high-quality educational and recreational opportunities and enjoyable experiences for camp participants.
- Supervises campers and ensures their safety, development, growth, skill achievement, and general well-being.
- Maintains a schedule for camp participants.
- Facilitates and creates lesson plans for daily activities.
- Organizes and leads various small and large group activities
- Ensures the cleanliness of the site.
- Assists in maintaining accurate program records, including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance.
- Knows and understands all emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
- Records and tracks camper’s dietary restrictions/allergies and ensures that the meals/snacks are distributed to them.
- Knows, enforces, and follows all safety guidelines associated with the camp program.
Summer Camp runs from June 20th to July 29th 2022
Starting salary for this role is $550 - $750 per full time week depending on availability, experience and qualifications
Full time and part time opportunities available.
