Bartender
Playa Mesa is looking for skilled, highly passionate and experienced Bartenders with strong interpersonal skills who understand and appreciate the importance of putting the guest first while working in a high-volume location. You must be organized, calm, friendly, and embrace a philosophy of enlightened hospitality to go above and beyond to make sure customers have exceptional experiences to help create regulars with every interaction. Open availability is strongly preferred.

- Work as a team with all Restaurants’ personnel to maintain an effective atmosphere and an efficient food and beverage service; maintain safety and sanitation requirements as per Health Department and Restaurant standards.
- Responsible service of alcohol. Verify identification and age requirements of guests. Count number of drinks served.
- Mix, garnish and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for patrons of bar and dining room always following standard recipes (includes lifting bottles and shaking mixing tins). Make suggestions based on guests taste and preferences
- Maintain a positive atmosphere while building a rapport with guests to create regulars with each interaction. Communicate with guests using making guests feel appreciated and welcomed through your actions.
- Ring drink orders into computer immediately; open and maintain tabs throughout the shift; process payment from guests accurately
- Keep all areas cleaned, organized and stocked to Restaurant’s standards; restock liquor and garnishments as needed during shift.
- Complete opening side work duties to ensure that the bar is set up and ready for the shift. Complete closing side work and ensure that all bar items are stocked, bar area is clean, and glassware is restocked.
Qualifications:
- Be over 21 years old; possess a minimum of 4 years bartending; bartender schooling is a plus
- Knowledge of beverage recipes and preparation method; craft cocktail and craft beer knowledge; must be able to suggestively sell food and beverage items.
- Posse or obtain Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) compliance through Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) and California Food Handler’s permit
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately
- Basic math skills for measuring ingredients and processing payments
- Customer focused, courteous, friendly, and professional demeanor while providing excellent customer service
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Walks and stands during entire shift; ability to remain stationary for long periods of time; be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
