The Registered Nurse Director of Admissions is a healthcare professional who plays a crucial role in overseeing the admissions process at Plaza Healthcare. Their primary responsibility is to ensure that patients are admitted efficiently, safely, and in compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse Director of Admissions is responsible for managing the admissions process and ensuring the smooth transition of patients into Plaza Healthcare. They lead a team of admissions coordinators and work closely with clinical staff, patients, and their families to facilitate admissions and provide exceptional patient care. This position requires a strong understanding of healthcare regulations, patient assessment, case management and effective communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Admissions Coordination:
- Oversee the admissions process, ensuring it meets regulatory and facility requirements.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to assess patients' medical needs and determine appropriate care settings.
- Review patient records and documentation to verify medical eligibility for admission.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise and train admissions coordinators and support staff.
- Set performance goals, conduct regular evaluations, and provide feedback to the admissions team.
Patient and Family Interaction:
- Communicate with patients and their families to explain the admissions process, answer questions, and address concerns.
- Provide emotional support to patients and families during the admission process.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to admissions.
- Stay updated on changes in healthcare regulations and adapt policies and procedures accordingly.
Quality Assurance:
- Monitor the quality of care provided to admitted patients and make improvements as necessary.
- Implement processes to enhance patient safety and satisfaction.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Generate reports on admission statistics, bed occupancy, and other relevant data.
Collaboration:
- Collaborate with other departments, including nursing, finance, and administration, to streamline the admissions process and resolve any issues.
Resource Management:
- Manage the allocation of resources, including beds, staff, and equipment, to ensure efficient admissions and patient flow.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is typically required
- Current RN (Registered Nurse) license.
- Several years of nursing experience, preferably in a leadership or management role.
- Knowledge of case management, healthcare regulations and accreditation standards.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
