The Finger Lakes Regions original winery is seeking a retail/tasting room manager. Pleasant Valley Wine Company, know as a historic destination located just outside the village of Hammondsport, NY, includes an on-site tasting room, multiple event spaces, two other satellite tasting rooms, all in one of the Finger Lakes most beautiful settings. The position will entail managing three locations and focus on supporting all tasting room associates and guest services.
Key Qualifications:
- An energetic and positive leader who treats all associates with courtesy and respect.
- Strong financial and business acumen with proven ability to oversee cost control, inventory management, labor and bottom-line profitability.
- Accurately complete detailed forms and reports.
- Responsibility for inventory management of wine, tasting room merchandise, wearable and supplies.
- Experience in hiring, training and mentoring associates with the ability to lead in a fast-paced environment and define clear expectations and levels of accountability for the associates.
- Maintain open communication with all the associates and departments within the winery regarding company policies, goals, procedures, events etc. Schedule and conduct regular team meetings, training seminars, and other events to enhance communication and teamwork.
- Ability to execute progressive management in wine and service-focused setting while delivering an excellent guest experience.
- Enthusiasm for food and wine and culinary trends.
- Develop and understanding of the Pleasant Valley Wine Company history; and learn to engage guests and teach team members the accurate storytelling.
- Manage, maintain, staff and promote the wineries historic tour route.
- Ability to forecast needs for peak season and event planning.
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. Ensure associates follow and comply with established procedures, health, and sanitation, and adhere to safe work practices. Ensure that the daily cleaning checklist is completed. Operate and sanitize all equipment in a safe and proper manner.
- Participate in team efforts and perform additional duties as needed.
- Moderate physical activity performing occasional somewhat strenuous activities including but not limited to standing, walking, reaching, and carrying. Requires lifting and moving objects up to 40-50 pounds in weight.
Experience:
- Successful history in personnel management
- Computer skills including Square POS and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) highly preferred.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required and embrace versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to relate to associates across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with a thorough focus on details.
- Experience effectively managing staff schedules, budgets and business practices.
- Event coordination experience: planning, organizing, scheduling and staffing. Ability to travel and work off-site events.
