Strategic Sourcing Manager (Parcel, Express, Air Freight)
DESCRIPTION
The Procurement Manager increases business profitability, sustains competitive advantage, and delivers operational excellence by obtaining services from qualified suppliers at competitive prices through practical planning and conscientious purchasing.
The Procurement Manager performs complex technical activities related to the purchasing of services in congruence with business strategy, company policy, and regulatory environment. Under limited direction, the Procurement Manager will research, evaluate, and purchase services dependent on price, capability, and quality.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Initiates bid/quote process; Utilizes procurement tools to manage bidding process and analyzes bid results
- Determines & develops supplier portfolio strategy; Identifies eligible suppliers based on company requirements; Maintains solid working relationships
- Prepares and reviews contract documentation; Negotiates prices, contract terms & conditions, etc.
- Stays current with industry & market trends by interviewing suppliers, attending conferences, taking on-site tours, and researching publications.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or equivalent
- 5 years of related experience
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Must perform work with solid judgement, confidence, confidentiality, and efficiency
