Brand new restaurant in the heart of downtown Mercer Island seeks a Beverage Director to join our founding team. A distinctively elevated neighborhood restaurant with unreasonable hospitality serving New American cuisine and classic craft cocktails, Allister, is a woman-owned business currently being developed with a planned opening early this Summer.

We are committed to exceptional culinary and beverage programs, designed to captivate, and delight our guests with innovative, high-quality offerings.

As we prepare for our grand opening, we are looking for a passionate and experienced Beverage Director to join us in launching a dining destination that will become a cornerstone of the community.

We envision our beverage program to be at the highest level, on par with our food program and hospitality. The Beverage Director will help build our beverage program from the ground up.

This includes the Wine list, cocktail menus, Non-Alcoholic offerings, and draft beer selections. The ideal candidate will reflect a commitment to service excellence coupled with a passion for classic and modern craft cocktails, fine wines, and draft beers.

Key Responsibilities :

Wine Menu : Oversee planning, pricing, tasting, ordering, receiving, inventory, and staff training for the wine program.

Be prepared to answer guest questions and offer suggestions based on their individual tastes, preferences, and menu pairings.

Spirits Menu : Manage cocktail list planning, pricing, ordering, receiving, menu input, inventory, batch and garnish prep, and hand-cut block ice production.

Recruit, Train, and Team Management : Partner with GM and AGM on building the cocktail bar team including bartenders and barbacks.

Ensure team members are committed to our service standards. Coach through mentorship and investment in team member growth.

Product Knowledge : Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for staff regarding wine, spirits, non-alcoholic beverages, and beer;

conduct regular tasting sessions to ensure staff are knowledgeable and passionate about our offerings.

General Duties : Collaborate with the GM, AGM, and Executive Chef to create a cohesive and dynamic beverage program that complements our culinary offerings.

Maintain high standards of beverage quality and consistency through regular quality checks and feedback.

Foster a workplace environment that encourages team growth through mentorship, collaboration, and professional development.

Build relationships with local suppliers, wineries, and distributors to ensure a diverse and high-quality beverage selection.

Manage beverage inventory and storage, maintaining standards for quality and cost control.

Oversee guest interactions to ensure satisfaction, swiftly addressing any concerns to achieve service excellence. As the beverage expert, you will often be called upon to answer guest questions.

Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations regarding beverage storage and service.

Qualifications :

Minimum 2 years of proven experience in beverage management or a similar role (Fine Dining experience a strong plus)

High integrity, honesty, reliability, kindness, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage teams effectively

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

A passion for the hospitality industry and a commitment to exceptional customer service

Knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and cost management

Compensation Details :

Salary : $80,000 / yr based on experience
