What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shop Foreman position at Point Eight Power?
The overall objective of this position is to ensure operational excellence by directing the Production Department through allocating manpower and resources, maintaining project schedules, and focusing on core operational processes.
Drive operational output by managing the assembly and production cycle through material and resource planning, monitoring of project schedules, reporting, and providing leadership to direct reports.
Identify and implement work procedures and improvements by applying lean manufacturing concepts to reduce man‐hours, increase productivity, positively impact on‐time shipments to clients, decrease operational costs and contribute to superior quality of products.
Continually drive quality and decrease production costs by working collaboratively with the Manufacturing
Manager on the implementation of lean manufacturing techniques.
Utilize best practices for workforce planning and forecasting for present and future manpower allocations and assist with hiring decisions within the department.
Develop initiative and project proposals that improve production costs, product quality, employee safety, and process efficiencies.
Work closely with other Manufacturing personnel and the Engineering Department to adjust schedules based on client needs and manpower resources.
Communicate performance expectations, tasks, and project modifications to direct reports to ensure they are high performing and engaged.
Ensure a safe workplace for all personnel and visitors to the Manufacturing floor through strict adherence to 5S
safety standards as well as all OSHA and EPA requirements.

Mechanical — Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

Computers and Electronics — Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and programming such as Microsoft Office Business Suite.
Verbal & Written Communication Skills – This position requires basic skills (Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.)
Math Skills –This position requires basic math skills.
Required Experience
5 years of experience in a manufacturing supervisory role, preferably in a ‘job shop’ or similar manufacturing environment, with a focus on process improvement, required.
3 years of experience in the oil and gas, energy, and/or marine markets, preferred.
Salary : $50,200 - $63,600
