THE OPPORTUNITY
Pointe is looking for a Principal to lead our Private Equity practice and support our firm’s rapid growth. At Pointe, expectations for leaders are high but empowering. Pointe currently operates in a highly flexible hybrid office model. This is a full-time salaried position that will be located at our new Arlington, Virginia offices. Pointe offers industry leading compensation, robust benefits, and schedule flexibility.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
As a Principal, you will lead teams driving high client value and be integral to Pointe’s success as a firm. You will sit at the fulcrum of our Great People, Great Clients, and Great Work Mantra! You will be responsible for developing our more junior Great People on projects. You will also be key in selling, structuring, and delivering Great Work to our exclusive list of Great Clients. And last (but not least), you will be looked to as a thought partner to develop the strategies that empower our Great Clients’ vision.
Your primary externally facing responsibilities will be to:
- Operate as the lead for PE- and/or M&A-related business development
- Strategically maximize existing client relationships with both middle-market and mega-funds
- Develop and implement approach to identify, engage and convert new PE and/or corporate M&A clients
- For sold engagements, lead project processes from start-to-finish, owning the client delivery, and ensuring output meets Pointe’s standards for quality of insight and client impact
- Drive the analysis of marketplace trends to identify opportunities, create value propositions, and to inform decision-making for Pointe’s clients
- Determine thoughtful approaches, work plans, and frameworks to guide organizations with both organic and inorganic strategies (including buy-side and sell-side diligences)
- Lead the development of and/or validation of financial, commercial, and strategic assumptions for both corporate and financial buyers
- Oversee original research, contact development, primary intelligence, and executive-level interviewing to develop unique insight regarding market dynamics and strategic decisions
- Oversee the development of best-in-class materials that exceed client expectations (in terms of research depth, analytical rigor, and visualization)
- Partner with clients on engagements by cultivating a collaborative environment and providing high-touch service
Your primary internally facing responsibilities will be to:
- Own the Pointe Private Equity P&L, including all decisions of consequence around engagement prices, talent investments and OH
- Develop practice and account plans, including ownership of staffing, hiring, and top- and bottom-line performance goals and expectations
- Develop mastery of Pointe’s research and analytical approaches
- Enhance Pointe’s Private Equity expertise
- Coach and nurture junior staff and provide team members with developmental and fulfilling opportunities on projects
- Execute on personal key performance metrics (and related account and project management targets), produced revenue goals, and coaching and team development
- Act as a role model for junior staff by embodying Pointe’s values

- BA or BS required with a clear track record of academic excellence in fields such as Economics, Business, or Data Science;MBA strongly preferred
- Eight to ten years of consulting and/or industry experience, including meaningful leadership roles
- Demonstrated expertise and success in leadership providing financial due diligence and other transaction-related services to private equity fund clients
- An aptitude for networking and executive-level interviewing at target companies, plus extensive knowledge assessing a target company’s quality of earnings and cash flows
- Well-honed business acumen and analytical skills with thought leader-level abilities directing efforts, identifies and addressing client needs, sustaining client relationships, and developing new client relationships to sell potential new service opportunities
- Strong communication, writing, and critical-thinking skills as a team and practice leader
- Work ethic, dedicated, organized, detail-oriented, and accountable
- Time management and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Advanced skill set in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint and Excel
- Experience with other analytics tools (e.g., Tableau, R, Python), including modeling and statistical data analysis
- Foreign language capabilities are a plus
