Terms of employment: Salary, benefits and other working conditions are determined by the negotiated agreement between the Polson School District and the PCEA. The work day is established by the Board of Trustees and may increase or decrease in hours dependent upon the needs of the district. Dependent upon the number of hours assigned, the employee may or may not be eligible for insurance benefits.

BUS Assistant—Non Instructional Assistant
REPORTS TO: Transportation Supervisor
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for maintaining and supervising student conduct on school buses.
Responsible for assisting the bus driver in the equipment for special needs students, including but not limited to lifts for wheelchairs.
Responsible for assisting the bus driver in loading and unloading students.
Assisting the bus driver as requested.
Reporting disciplinary problems to the bus driver and/or transportation supervisor.
Only minimum duties are listed. Other functions may be required as given or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS:
Regular attendance and punctuality.
Work history demonstrating dependability and reliability; good driving record; high school diploma or equivalent; or any combination of training and experience likely to provide the desired knowledge and abilities.
Ability to follow both oral and written directions and instructions of the assigned bus driver and/or the transportation supervisor.
Ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, and staff.
Ability to handle stressful situations.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of student matters.
Ability to manage students with disciplinary problems.
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and Board policies.
EQUIPMENT USED:
Wheelchair lifts and other special needs equipment, two-way radio, telephone/voice mail.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works outside. The employee is directly responsible for the safety and well-being of students. The employee will occasionally walk on slippery surfaces.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
