Position Summary:
The IT Infrastructure Administrator serves as an administrative and support resource for POLYWOOD's IT infrastructure technologies such as server systems, storage systems, data center systems, backup and disaster recovery, cloud infrastructure, and support of other technological systems as assigned. The ITIA is responsible for leading in the implementation and administration of server compute, storage, and virtualization technologies, but also working with IT operations in the support of networking department leadership to manage and monitor infrastructure technology to ensure that industry best practices are implemented and followed. Additionally, the ITIA is responsible for analyzing and monitoring the evolving security landscape of the physical and virtualized server space, working with department leadership to implement countermeasures as necessary. The ITIA is also a leading voice for backup and disaster recovery administration, as well as the administration of data center technology such as power and fire suppression.
The ITIA reports directly to the Director of IT, and is responsible for advising the department leadership on infrastructure technologies and assisting in identifying and prioritizing infrastructure initiatives. This position requires building SOPs and counseling peers in the execution of SOPs and best practices of administering technical infrastructure. As needed, the ITIA will need to assist peers in day to day service of the network, as well as Tier 1 and Tier 2 business applications to ensure internal customer needs are met in a timely fashion. As needed, the ITIA must work closely with the Systems Administration team in managing the Windows Server environment to ensure maximum uptime and performance of both infrastructure and business application services. Partnership with DevOps team in administering cloud infrastructure will be a routine expectation. Assist in management of vendor and partner relationships for the purpose of systems support and administration. The ITIA must work well within team environments as well with organizational leadership to drive innovation forward and ensure maximum ROI of new and existing IT systems.
The IT Infrastructure Administrator must be self driven, focused, and goal oriented in the successful execution of projects and day to day responsibilities. Critical thinking under pressure and advanced troubleshooting is a component of day to day workload, and proven history of these skill sets is necessary.
Knowledge of physical and virtual server concepts, topologies and protocols such as hypervisors, NFS, clustering, iSCSI, Fiber Channel, Multicasting, etc. With 3 years of progressive responsibility in managing, deploying, and designing server, storage, disaster recovery environments is required with 8 years of experience working within enterprise IT. Strong understanding of networking, Linux, and Microsoft Server technologies is preferred. Must have proven experience in securing, monitoring, capacity planning, and implementing server, storage, and virtualization products and systems.
The applicant must show excellent emotional maturity and enjoy working in teams, with the ability to maintain healthy relationships with peers and leadership. Must be willing to occasionally work off hours during maintenance windows, as well as occasionally share the responsibility of providing high availability to 2nd/3rd shift associates if service outages occur. This is a hybrid position dictated by project workload.
