Second Shift Chemist I Summary: Second Shift Chemist 1 will report to the Laboratory Supervisor and work closely with other chemists and technicians in the Pompeian Lab. The Chemist will use chromatography, spectrometry and other instruments and techniques to accomplish Pompeian goals and objectives while following GMP’s and laboratory safety rules.

Second Shift Chemist I Requirements:

• B.S. in Chemistry or related science field
• 1-3 years of work experience in a chemical analysis laboratory
• Experience in the food manufacturing and/or pharmaceutical industry
• Required experience with titration, potentiometry, liquid-liquid and solid-liquid extraction, distillation (roto-evaporation), and centrifugation
• Preferred hands-on experience with chromatography, spectrometry, and spectroscopy instruments and techniques
• Previous experience as a chemist is highly preferred
• Strong knowledge of laboratory health and safety standards
• Working knowledge of GMP’s as applicable to laboratory environment
• Chemist will have strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong problem-solving including root cause analysis, critical thinking, analytical skills and attention to detail
• Must be able to work independently and make sound decisions on the shift
• Solid knowledge of laboratory health and safety standards
• Must have predictable and strong attendance

Second Shift Chemist I Pay and Perks:

• Starting pay $28.69/hour with room for advancement

Chemist I Responsibilities:

• Follow all published employee safety, environmental, and food safety rules
• Ensure compliance with laboratory health and safety guidelines and all projects comply with environmental regulations and environmental goals
• Perform tasks using chromatography, spectroscopy, and spectrophotometry
• Prepare test solutions and reagents for laboratory activities
• Manage and register all samples and stock room inventory
• Determine chemical and physical properties and conduct testing in compliance with GMPs and SOPs
• Register, analyze, and report test results
• Clean and maintain laboratory instruments, equipment and materials to ensure all technology is working properly and troubleshoot or report any malfunctions
• Perform routine equipment metrological verification according to control plan
• Daily use of instrumentation software’s such as; ERP software, LIMS, and Microsoft Office 365
• Ensure the laboratory follows safety data sheets and updates according to defined instructions
• Verify all paperwork related to incoming raw material
• Coordinate tasks and duties as needed with other departments such as; Production
• Receive purchase orders of laboratory materials
• Performs duties per Pompeian’s mission, goals and core values
• Perform other duties and tasks assigned
