Payroll Specialist (fully remote)

Pono Security is a leading provider of unarmed private security guards founded in Hawaii in 2012. We employ guards to help protect our client's properties, construction sites, retail locations, apartment complexes, and more. Our company employs over 300 people and works for a wide range of clients, from retail locations to luxury apartment complexes. Responsibilities:
- Report to the Director of Human Resources
- Process payroll for employees accurately and on time, including calculation of wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
- Process manual checks.
- Process termination according to state law.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Handle payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies or issues promptly.
- Thoroughly review payroll reports prior to submission
- Prepare and submit payroll reports to management as needed.
- Stay updated on changes in payroll regulations and implement necessary adjustments.
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to ensure seamless integration of payroll data.
- Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and tax filings.
- Maintain confidentiality of payroll information and adhere to data protection protocols.
- Participating in group and company meetings
- Other tasks as assigned by the Director of Human Resources
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or similar role, with required knowledge of payroll processing procedures and regulations.
- Experience using a third-party payroll provider.
- Proficiency in payroll software and MS Office, with advanced Excel skills preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle payroll inquiries professionally.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Must have a computer, smartphone, and access to the internet
- Understanding of confidentiality and data protection principles.

Compensation Offered: The salary role will start at $1,000 per week with a review after completing 120 days in this position.
Schedule for Role: Monday through Friday, 8 am - 5 pm (with a one-hour lunch)
