Job Summary:
Working as a team with Sr. Business Development Representative (BDR), the Account Representative provides excellent customer service over the phone by responding to customers' needs promptly and professionally. This role works to grow existing customer sales while identifying new customers as well as increase customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
Works as a team with the supervising Sr. BDR to provide customer support and account management to assigned accounts.
Places calls to and answers calls from existing and potential customers to solicit business and to follow up on customers' needs.
Establishes relationships with customers by assisting over the phone. Understands the needs of the customers and learns their buying habits and expectations in order to recommend specific products and solutions.
Processes customer orders quickly and efficiently. Increases sales and average order size by means of cross-selling, up-selling, add-on sales and offering promotional sale items.
Proactively recommends items needed by customers to increase customer satisfaction and improve transaction profitability. Recommends alternate products based on cost, availability or specifications.
Communicates pricing, product updates, deliveries, pricing credit and terms in accordance with standard procedures and customers' profitability profiles.
Prepares quotes and sales orders passed along by the team's Sr. BDR.
Accurately performs data entry of sales orders, quotes for early buys, price matrixes, etc.
Apprises business development representatives of potential issues, special deals, pricing, or opportunities.
Promptly responds to complaints or situations that may arise involving pricing, delivery/shipping errors, returns, etc. and resolves these issues in a timely and satisfactory manner by communicating and following up with the supervising Sr. BDR or sales center manager.
Relays relevant information to assigned accounts such as specials, business closures and progress toward rebate goals (if applicable).
Remains current on product and industry knowledge by attending sales meetings, vendor training and trade shows, or by reading trade journals.
Educates customers about terminology, features and benefits of products in order to improve product related sales and customer satisfaction.
Researches and studies the market to stay aware of competitive situations. Gathers competitive information and other market information regularly while interacting cooperatively with other members of the distribution team.
Monitors team's sales goals, discusses strategies to increase sales of assigned accounts, and helps establish new prospects for the team.
Assists operations and purchasing departments with inventory control by providing timely communication regarding new business needs or reduced or lost business.
Reviews open sales orders, open purchase orders, and open transfers weekly.
Confers with regional buyers and/or vendors to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
Proficiently uses technologies including distribution and office software such as Prelude.
Works with accounts receivable department when necessary to assist in collecting on past due accounts.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED.
Strong product knowledge in the swimming pool and spa industry.
At least two years inside sales experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to work in a team environment and nurture relationships with customers.
Demonstrated understanding and application of effective selling techniques.
Demonstrated success meetings sales goals and growing sales.
Demonstrated ability to handle difficult customers and situations.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions in a timely manner.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.
Availability to "ride along" with Sr. BDR from time to time to meet with prospective and assigned accounts.
