Responsibilities
- Assign ICD-10-CM diagnostic codes accurately by translating diagnostic statements and other documentation.
- Collaborate with HIM staff to address incomplete or ambiguous documentation to ensure coding accuracy.
- Adhere to HIM coding policies, AHA Official Coding Guidelines, and TJC documentation guidelines.
- Maintain coding certification and stay updated on ICD-10-CM guidelines and regulatory changes.
- Engage with appropriate departments or HIM staff for physician clarifications.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives as assigned.
- Minimum of 5 years of inpatient coding experience.
- Experience in acute care facility and/or Trauma Level II coding preferred.
- AAPC, AHIMA, or Certified Coding credential required.
- Base Salary: USD $56,056 to $78,478
- Full-time position with full benefits package.
- No relocation assistance, commission, bonus, or overtime eligibility.
- Travel reimbursement for interviews not provided.
- 2 to 5 years of experience.
